Where the run starts

In a family home the week of a wedding, the mother of the bride announces in front of everyone that there will be no bachelor party. Antonella Larrea says it will not happen under her roof. The groom-to-be agrees politely, takes a few pieces of marital advice, and assumes that is the end of it. Antonella, firm and charming in equal measure, waits until her daughter, a light sleeper, goes upstairs to rest after too many mimosas at brunch. The groom wants to behave. Antonella wants him to relax, quietly, and she has arranged for it to stay in the family.

Episodes 1 and 2

By the close of the first episode, she has asked him to follow her, insisted that quiet matters, and promised a surprise. Two episodes in, two of her friends are in the room, one introduced as his fiancée's godmother, and he points out that his fiancée is only a staircase away. Halfway through the second, he stalls, Antonella sees where his attention really lies, and he protests that she is his mother-in-law.
