Where the run starts

On Thanksgiving afternoon, Ryan has nowhere to go until his best friend Kyle takes him along to his family. Kyle's mother, Lexi Luna, is cooking a big dinner scheduled for six, and she welcomes both of them in. Ryan wants an easy holiday, a seat at a table and a good game on the television. Lexi, relaxed and a few steps ahead, wants a helper who will not wander off. Kyle, absorbed in football, only notices that his friend might be staring at his mother.

Episodes 1 and 2

By the close of the first episode, Ryan has stuffed the turkey with her and is asked to fetch her apron since butter coats her hands. The teasing between them has turned to tasting, and she tells him to stay, since nobody comes into the kitchen until dinner. Halfway through the second, a hot pie comes out of the oven while Kyle shouts about the game. Ryan answers that he is occupied, and Lexi suggests he could try a little before dinner.
