Where the run starts

In a company meeting where the monthly numbers are being read out as a failure, a junior employee is caught looking at the director instead of the report. She is a married woman, her husband owns the firm, and she has watched him replace staff over small mistakes. She does not fire the employee. She takes him aside and tells him he can keep his position if he does a particular job for her, one that does not go through email, and that his future in the company depends on how well he follows her instructions that evening in her office.

Episodes 1 and 2

By the close of the first episode, he has agreed, apologized more than once, and been told to arrive that night prepared to give a presentation. Two episodes in, she has taken a call from her husband about a board recommendation, told him she will be working late, and turned back to the employee, who arrives late, receives a reprimand and walks through his quarterly plan under her correction. Halfway through the second episode her feedback has turned from work notes into something more personal.
