My Dad’s Bride Wants Me First!

Where the run starts

With a Saturday wedding close at hand, a house is full of garment bags and wedding plans. The narrator, an adult man in his twenties, has been made best man by his father, who is about to marry Margot, a woman of thirty-four. His father instructs him to meet any request Margot makes that week. Margot, in her turn, says he is welcome to address her as Mom. He wants to be useful and stay out of trouble. Margot wants to make the best man's duties a private matter.

Episodes 1 and 2

By the close of the first episode, she has asked him to zip her wedding dress while his father is kept from seeing it for luck, and she tells him what she really wants from the role. Two episodes in, her stepsister Dahlia appears as the maid of honor and claims the best man by tradition, while Margot asks him to hold her garter. Halfway through the second, the bride hands him a present that is not for the ceremony.
