Where the run starts

At a home across town on an ordinary afternoon, Lexi Luna rings a doorbell and asks for David. She is a grown woman acting for her stepson, an adult who shares her home, and she wants David to stop making his life hard. David, also an adult, is unconcerned and curious about his visitor. Lexi is firm, direct and unprepared for how attractive he is. Her purpose is a favor for her family. His is a trade. They talk in his living space, where she gives her name and asks what it will take.

Episodes 1 and 2

By the close of the first episode, the bargain is on the table: he agrees to leave her stepson alone, but he has something to ask in return, and she says yes. Two episodes in, the arrangement is underway, and the two adults move from the doorway to the interior of his home. His comments are blunt and she answers with practical directions. The deal is meant to be a one-time fix, and it already looks like more than that.
