Where the run starts

On a Friday night in a house that is meant to be empty, a man in his twenties finds his stepmother, Mia Malkova, home after her dinner plans with his father fall through. Mia is in a red dress, and the stepson, who once had her posters on his wall, struggles to speak. Thin walls let her overhear him telling a friend how attractive she is. She tells him dinner is canceled, the dress should not go to waste, and asks if he wants a proper look.

Episodes 1 and 2

By the close of the first episode, she has invited him to come inside, twice, and he has protested that she is his stepmother, and the invitation stays open. Two episodes in, she repeats his remark to the friend and asks whether it was a lie; it was not. Halfway through the second episode, she asks for help with her outfit, and when he worries that his father might come home, she tells him the vote tonight is not his father's, and asks if it can be their secret.
