Where the run starts

In the family home of a recently divorced woman, a man in his twenties arrives with a van to help his best friend's mother, Amanda, pack for the move. The sale closes on Friday, and her son Rory, who flies home that day, has asked him to look after her. Amanda spent twenty years in the house without feeling noticed, and she sorts her belongings into keep and toss with the helper beside her. Agents arrive for viewings, a neighbor named Tamsin takes an interest in him, and Amanda starts to treat the last week as time for new memories.

By the close of the first episode, the sorting has turned personal, her son has texted to ask how she is holding up, and the helper has answered with a reassurance that carries more than it should. Two episodes in, they are in her bedroom, the largest remaining room, packing, and she says no strong man has been in it for a long time. Tamsin offers to borrow his hands, Amanda declines, and by the end of the episode she tells him no one has made her feel wanted.
