YES MA'AM stretches across a thirty-five-episode run set on a military base, following a new recruit and Sergeant Diana Demont, whose command and marriage to the Colonel make every glance risky. The run is a slow-burning, tense and bold story in which orders do the work of invitations.

Where the run starts

On the first day of basic training, a new recruit arrives at the base, gets caught in a scuffle and meets the officer who runs his unit. Sergeant Diana Demont is stern, composed and, to the men around her, untouchable. Her husband is the Colonel, who arrives on deck to end the parade. The recruit has no rank, no friends and no sensible plan. He wants to survive the first week. She wants the unit to know who is in charge, and she hands him a punishment: a run up the hill, then a report to her office.

Episodes 1 and 2

By the close of the first episode, she has told him that he belongs to her now, he has realized that he cannot stop looking at her, and she sends him to the office for what is owed. Two episodes in, he scrubs her office floor on his knees after the mud she tracked in, while she showers. Halfway through the second, she summons him sharply, accuses him of faking the cleaning, and promises a surprise as his reward.
