Where the run starts

On an ordinary day at a family home, the front door opens and Bonnie Blue, who describes herself as the most famous woman on the internet, arrives for what is meant to be a few weeks. Her father welcomes her and asks Jake, her stepbrother, to be kind. Jake is an adult who lives in the house, keeps a quiet routine and has never watched her videos. Bonnie expects the opposite reaction and wants to find out whether anyone will treat her as a person.

Episodes 1 and 2

By the close of the first episode, she has told him that everyone has seen her and that he is not special, and he has answered that he is not everyone else. One small word at the end of the exchange hints that she means to change his mind. Two episodes in, on the morning after, Bonnie remarks that he is the first man to close a door on her and admits she disliked it. She confides that she has never been with family. Jake reminds her they are not family. Step, she says, still counts.
