Where the run starts

On the way to a summer exchange in the English county of Kent, Mona Newman and her stepbrother are already bickering about how he should behave. The family hosting them is proper, old-fashioned and strict about manners, with two sons around their age. Mona treats the trip as an opportunity: she teases him constantly, enjoys the effect, and has no intention of being tidy about her feelings. He wants to make a good impression and stay out of trouble. At the door they meet Charlotte, poised and friendly, who shows them in and immediately catches his attention.

Episodes 1 and 2

By the close of the first episode, the visitors are installed in the house, and the host family's manners have already been tested by an awkward first moment. Halfway through the second, they are shown to bedrooms down the hall, and Mona, restless, wanders into one that obviously belongs to one of the sons. She starts to push him toward something improper just as the household clock ticks toward tea time.
