Where the run starts

In a new city and a new street, a man begins a fresh start as a tenant in a house owned by Jamie, a friendly landlord who introduces his wife, Courtney. The tenant, newly arrived and a little lonely, notices Courtney immediately and is caught looking. Courtney is warm and attentive, and Jamie says that people on this street take care of their own, especially newcomers. The tenant feels sorry for her, married to a man like Jamie, and believes he is the one who might help. He does not suspect the neighborhood is watching him.

Episodes 1 and 2

By the close of the first episode, a small domestic accident puts Courtney's hands on him, and the episode ends on a sharp reaction to something he discovers, a sign that the welcome is not what it seems. Two episodes in, a neighbor named Nicole appears at his door with a casual hello and a request for help, and she speaks as though Courtney has already told her everything. She steers the conversation toward old stories, and a tattoo, and what he might like to see.
