Where the run starts

At the start of a three-month tennis exchange, Madison drags her bags up to the attic of Ryan's house. Ryan owns the circuit she will be playing on, and he knows her father from a long-ago summer on a building site, the worst job either of them ever had. Madison wants her first stretch abroad to be with people her father trusts, and she is recovering from a recent breakup. Ryan wants to be a good host and keep reminding himself whose daughter she is.

Episodes 1 and 2

By the close of the first episode, dinner conversation about her father, a request to pass the cucumber and a few lingering glances have made the line between host and guest look thin. Halfway through the second, she asks Ryan to film her practice, and he goes quiet behind the camera. Later he agrees to spot her on squats in the home gym, and the scene ends with a towel and a remark that he took too long to find one.

Who carries it
