Where the run starts

Two days before his best friend's wedding, the best man arrives at the house for the final preparations. Jake, the groom, is busy with the caterer and keeps repeating how many days remain. The bride, Bree, is trying on her wedding dress upstairs and asks the best man for help with the zipper because Jake is useless with it and always falls asleep early. The best man wants to be the dependable friend. Bree wants something she has apparently waited six years to say.

Episodes 1 and 2

By the close of the first episode, upstairs in her room she reminds him that he never tried anything in all those years and tells him that he used to be hers, then asks whether she was ever his. The conversation ends on that unanswered question. Two episodes in, the best man tries to walk away, but Bree says that the risk is exactly what makes it exciting, and Jake interrupts from downstairs while looking for his keys.
