Where the run starts

On a summer weekend at a family lake house, Noah arrives expecting a quiet visit with his girlfriend Emma and her mother. Nobody has mentioned that Emma's older sister Riley is staying as well, and Noah recognizes her the moment she walks out onto the deck. Emma wants him to fit in. Her mother is busy with a cooler and a picnic table. Riley wants to learn what kind of man her sister brought home, and she treats the dock and the water as her examination room. Noah only wants to get through the days without disgrace.

By the close of the first episode, a dive off the dock and a murmured reference to a lake rule have left him unsure whether the teasing is a joke. Halfway through the second, the setting moves indoors. Emma is in another room, Riley calls him toward the bedroom, a small object goes missing and she dares him to take it back, and a call from Emma lands at the worst possible moment while Riley says she is happy to wait.
