Where the run starts

At a restaurant table late in the evening, Niko tells his closest friend the company has collapsed, and that keeping a woman like Dasha is a full-time job. Dasha, glamorous and used to luxury, has no idea at first what the two men are discussing. Niko wants his friend's counsel and his silence. The friend wants an honest night out. Dasha wants her comfortable life to continue. When the bill arrives and Niko's card is declined, the friend steps in without fuss. A dinner table, a declined card and a drive home carry the opening.

Episodes 1 and 2

By the close of the first episode, the friend has covered the check, Niko has called him a lifesaver, and Dasha has begun to flirt, saying she doubts he can afford her. He answers that a woman should work for his generosity. Halfway through the second, a driver brings the group home; it is late, and the couple invite him to stay in the guest wing, which Dasha adds is very private. She tells him that pursuit is for boys, and the episode closes on a spare room.
