Where the run starts

In a quiet office at the end of a working day, Mia Malkova introduces herself as the counselor assigned to a man's required sessions. He is an adult client, nervous and apologetic, sent after an incident in public that he insists was misunderstood. The room is private, and she tells him that nothing said in it leaves it. He wants the sessions finished without fuss. Mia wants a full account, and she is patient about getting one, even when he starts to stammer and look away.

Episodes 1 and 2

By the close of the first episode, her request for a demonstration has changed what the sessions are, and the counseling frame is mostly a formality that both of them keep using. Two episodes in, the roles have settled: she directs, he follows, and the conversation has become a question of how far her instructions will go. Halfway through the second episode, the formal language is gone, and the next stop is waiting at the office door.
