Stepsister's Dirty Deal

Where the run starts

On the evening of a party, with a pickup time of nine already arranged, an adult stepbrother walks into the house to borrow the car keys. His stepsister has other plans for the same car and is furious that he assumes it is his turn. Their parents, heading out to a show, tell them to work it out like grown-ups and point to the keys in the lounge. He wants a lift to the party; she wants the car, and she wants the argument settled fast. She offers him a deal.

Episodes 1 and 2

By the close of the first episode, the keys change hands and so does the balance between them, and she wonders aloud what he has been hiding. Two episodes in, one of the parents comes back to report that the taillight on the spare car is out, so nobody drives tonight, which means the bargain bought her nothing. She claims he now owes her and names the trade. Halfway through the second, the night at home becomes a negotiation about what each has imagined about the other.
