Where the run starts

On her first day at an international biotech firm, Talia Reid is shown into the office of Mr. Vaughn, the executive who is about to hire her. She has come undercover to find out what is really happening in the company. Vaughn greets her with a remark about how time moves faster inside his room, asks which languages she speaks and whether she is single, and then walks her through an open floor holding over a thousand people. Talia wants evidence. Vaughn wants an assistant who will earn the large salary he is offering.

Episodes 1 and 2

By the close of the first episode, she has the job, a position more senior than almost anyone on the floor, and a warning that she will have to earn it. Halfway through the second, she travels with Vaughn and meets his wife Viviana, who comments on the color of her hair. The three of them share a private joke in a moment, and a request to leave the bathroom door open leaves Talia asking whether she is meant to be shy.
