Where the run starts

At the start of a father's work trip, he gathers his family in the house and tells his adult son that for the duration his wife Ava is in charge. Ava, a grown woman in her twenties and his stepmother, accepts the role with composure. Her stepson, a man in his twenties, wants to be agreeable and stay clear of trouble. Ava wants more than obedience. She states her first rules at once: his phone stays in the kitchen, and he must knock before entering her room, while the third rule is left for later.

Episodes 1 and 2

By the close of the first episode, he has been told to knock and has seen more through a door than he meant to, and she has caught the moment. Halfway through the second, he protests that he cannot be in her room, since she is his father's wife, and she answers that he watched for a full minute. She says she liked it, reveals the third rule, and tells him that this time he will watch, and must not look away.
