Where the run starts

On a weekday afternoon five days before a milestone birthday, a house is being quietly arranged for a surprise party. Sofia has taken charge and has recruited her stepfather, who married her mother three years earlier, to distract his wife and keep her away. Forty guests are coming on Saturday, and Sofia has also invited Aunt Sarah, who has not spoken to her sister in four years. The stepfather wants to help and to keep things innocent. Sofia has planned more than a party, and she knows his wife works until six.

Episodes 1 and 2

By the close of the first episode, his wife has demanded to know why the two of them are acting strangely, and he has admitted privately that he has been watching his stepdaughter. Two episodes in, Sofia confesses that she volunteered to plan the party only to spend a week in his house. Halfway through the second episode, the front door opens early and the question of where everyone is goes unanswered.
