Where the run starts

On a Halloween evening in a family house, Mark finds his stepdaughter Riley dressed for a party in an outfit he says she cannot wear. Riley is an adult and treats his reaction as a game. Her mother, Mark's wife, is upstairs avoiding trick-or-treaters and has no idea what is going on downstairs. Mark wants to be a responsible stepfather and send Riley back to change. Riley wants to see how long he will keep up the act, and she knows his pulse is racing.

Episodes 1 and 2

By the close of the first episode, her teasing has stopped being a joke, Mark has told her that her mother could walk in at any minute, and Riley has pointed out that the house is safe. Two episodes in, Mark is saying that this is wrong and Riley is answering that they both want it. Halfway through the second, she has told him she has seen him watching, and the choice is no longer his to postpone.
