Where the run starts

On an ordinary afternoon at a family home, Veronica opens the door to the nun she has been expecting, a houseguest who will stay in the spare room until Sunday. Sister Dark Angel arrives courteous and composed, and Veronica's grown son is more surprised than he lets on. The guest is days from the vows that will close off her old life. The son wants to behave as a good host. The nun wants one thing for herself, and she has not yet told anyone.

Episodes 1 and 2

By the close of the first episode, a shared meal and a short prayer have made her interest obvious to him, and night has left both of them awake. Two episodes in, the morning after has settled into a careful politeness: Veronica tells the guest to ask her son for anything at all, and the nun asks what Sunday really means. Halfway through the second, the deadline has become the subject of every conversation, spoken or not.
