Where the run starts

In a home close enough to its neighbors that sound travels, Theo has a habit he keeps to himself: he imagines the gothic couple who live nearby. He is married, settled and unsure whether the habit says something about him or about his marriage. His wife shares the home and the routine, and neither of them has said aloud what is on his mind. The neighbors dress in black, keep their own hours and seem to notice more than they let on. Theo wants his thoughts to stay inside his head. The neighbors seem to want something else.

Episodes 1 and 2

By the close of the first episode, one of them suggests that his next dream about them would go better with the window left ajar, which makes clear the dream was heard. Two episodes in, the neighbors turn up and tell him he kept them waiting. They ask him to describe the dream and warn him not to lie, since they already know. For now it stays among the neighbors alone, then they hand him the choice, and say they will finish what he began in his sleep.
