Where the run starts

At a boot camp on its fifth day, a drill yard full of recruits stands to attention as Trainer Harlow strides out to set the standard. She demands eye contact when she speaks and an answer when she asks, and nobody in the yard misses how much the recruits admire her. One of them, a weary man who has been failing every drill, is the one she picks out. Harlow wants him broken in and pushed further. The recruit wants to survive the week. A second woman in the unit already likes him and is watching.

Episodes 1 and 2

By the close of the first episode, a set of pushups he cannot finish has earned him a mocking remark and an instruction to appear at the training grounds at six sharp. Halfway through the second, the private session begins with stretching and a harder test, and his attention keeps drifting. Harlow notices, takes him off to the changing rooms and calls the rest his stamina training.
