Where the run starts

On the first evening of a winter weekend, two couples reach lodge 69 and find that each has booked it. The road is closed and no other rooms are available, so the group makes do with a pair of bedrooms, an outdoor hot tub and a stranger's company. One of them keeps the mood easy and jokes that nothing could go wrong; one is a devoted skier with a plan for the morning; the others hunt for chargers and goggles and show off outfits for their partners. They wanted a quiet getaway. The lodge has other ideas.

Episodes 1 and 2

By the close of the first episode, the household has settled in for the night, and one wife has pointed out to the other woman's husband that hers will be skiing all day tomorrow. Two episodes in, the skiers head for the first chair at nine, but one person claims to be wiped out and stays behind. Halfway through the second, a hot tub turns into a shower, the pair who remain count seven hours until the others return, and the conversation stops being polite.
