Where the run starts

On a weeknight at the family home, a wife has gone out until midnight, leaving a newly hired woman in charge of the household. Sophia is a grown woman, quick, confident and, by her own account, very good at her job. She has been given the run of the place. Owen, the husband, is polite and a little off balance. Each of them has a partner, hers texting from elsewhere, his expected home late. Sophia is paid by the hour, so she wants the hours to count. Owen wants a quiet evening.

Episodes 1 and 2

By the close of the first episode, Sophia has brushed off a call from her boyfriend and asked Owen how long his wife will be out, learning midnight. She tells him to put her to work. Two episodes in, the clock is running, and he reminds her he is married; she points out that she has a boyfriend. Halfway through the second, his wife calls to announce a night at a friend's place and asks him to pay Sophia for the whole night. Sophia observes that she is now paid until morning.
