Where the run starts

On an ordinary weekday morning in a shared apartment, Ren pours coffee for his roommate Yama and gets caught staring at the toast instead of the person holding it. He loves her and is too nervous to say so, and the friendship they have built is comfortable enough that speaking up risks ending it. Neither of them follows through on a half-started confession. Money is tight, the rent is split two ways, and a surprise knock changes the arithmetic.

Episodes 1 and 2

By the close of the first episode, an unannounced visitor stands at the door with a bag and a loud entrance: Mira, Yama's best friend. Halfway through the second, she says her boyfriend has thrown her out, Ren admits he lost his job that morning, and the three realize that a third share of the rent is the only way to keep the place. Mira settles in within minutes, claims the closet and the good shower, and spots how Ren and Yama look at each other. She proposes a game: both women pursue him, he must never find out, and whoever he falls for wins.
