Where the run starts

In an elven realm hidden beneath the water, known as the Sunken Court, a mortal thief steps into a moonlit garden for one purpose, a sacred stone. Legend says no one who enters the court has ever walked out again. The princess, Thalindra, catches him on his knees among her flowers. He wants to take the relic and leave. She wants to know what kind of man would dare to steal from her and, more quietly, what he is looking at when he looks at her.

Episodes 1 and 2

By the close of the first episode, she has decided not to kill him, and she announces that he will stay with her. Two episodes in, the thief begins to understand his new position and tries to keep his sense of humor. Halfway through the second, a messenger brings word that her betrothed wants to see her, and the thief is told that being found would cost both of them their lives. She tells him to earn his survival.
