Where the run starts

On a weekday morning, a wife presents a new maid to her husband, asks him to be polite, and sets out for her job with a return time of eight. The hired woman, adult and efficient, has a long list of rooms to clean. The husband, who works from home or stays near, wants an ordinary day and an easy peace in a house that is suddenly less empty. The maid wants to make a good impression and seems willing to go beyond the list.

Episodes 1 and 2

By the close of the first episode, a brief phone check from the wife confirms everything is fine, and the husband says so a little too brightly after the maid asks if she is doing well. Halfway through the second, the maid apologizes for a small accident, explains that the wife gave her charge of every room, and finds dust where he sees none. Spilled coffee is no longer the topic, and she says he is the last untidy thing left.
